Game Summary

As a person struggling with finance, the time has come to face the problem. Your chosen way of fixing it is to rob a wealthy company! Unfortunately, you will face many problems, such as other employees looking around trying to catch you. Fortunately, they are addicted to coffee, meaning they will not always be around to chase you. 

Objective 

As the player you have snuck into the company, you must find a key within the building and eventually return to the vault with the key whilst not getting caught. The player is challenged to find patterns within the randomness of the employees who work their way through the company. Getting caught is almost inevitable if you do not plan your approach. 

Theme 

The game is set in a dystopian future where everything is reverted into primary shapes and colors. Weirdly though keys seem to have stayed the same, the employees have been spared from this “primarification.”  

Coffee

Coffee is a primal need of any Employee. That is why our employees are not allowed to be outside of a certain range of it when their performance is lowering. We use fuzzy logic to determine their “Absence of Coffee” this is the defuzzification score. Before defuzzification the results are calculated using the distance to the coffee station and their stamina level, because after moving so much their stamina unfortunately lowers. If their stamina gets too low and the coffee station is within an acceptable range, the Employee needs to go to the nearest coffee station to regain stamina.  

Key(s)

A player can only carry one key at a time, fun fact, there is only one key anyway. Keys are heavy, but they are necessary to open doors, in this case the vault door. Employees can walk through doors, but players cannot. The player will need the key to unlock the vault door, which is the game's end goal objective. Employees are also spiritually attached to the keys, meaning if the player takes a key, all the employees get a speed boost. And they will be a little sad if you manage to get to the vault as well. 

Employee Movement

To keep our Employees on the move and to keep them entertained we assign every one of them a random point inside the company to go to. Our employees are trained to move to the point using the A* algorithm. To ensure this expensive procedure is not overused. We urge them to think for a bit before taking on a new point to go t

Controls

To move the player WASD-controls were implemented: 
W -> move up 
A -> move left
S -> move down
D -> move right
Finally, you can rage quit using the escape-key, nicely located in the top left corner of the mainstream keyboard.  

Disclaimer

This game is harder than it seems, though as some of our bravest players would say: 'It is not impossible, but that does not mean it is possible.' By pressing ‘V’,  "debug mode" can be activated, making the game significantly easier but also less 'fun'!
